Because sometimes, Christmas can feel a little overwhelming…
Perfect your table setting
Create a simple yet striking dining space by choosing a colour palette and sticking to it. Winter whites are the perfect contemporary base to build upon. Simply add fresh foliage and natural elements – pine cones, mistletoe or even a branch or two from your Christmas tree. This will make your table look extra special while adding a touch of festive fragrance.
Make a wreath
Whether on the front door, above the dining table or hanging from the mantelpiece, a home-made wreath will bring all the Christmassy feels. You’ll need a reel of floristry wire, a wire frame and plenty of foliage: think holly, eucalyptus and pine. Start by laying out branches anticlockwise around the wire frame, then secure with floristry wire. You’ll then be ready to decorate it with fruit, glitter and wintery blooms.
Mix classic with contemporary
By bringing together contemporary textures and traditional elements, you can give a Christmassy atmosphere to your home with a sense of hygge. Luxe faux-fur rugs, open log fires and mix-and-match chairs paired with traditional colours and glass baubles all come together in perfect festive harmony for a look that’s cosy and chic.
Make your tree the focus
Your tree is the pièce de résistance. Not only does your choice of tree say a lot about you, but so does the way you decorate it. Whether you opt to cover it with traditional baubles or layer up metallics, it’s better to choose a theme for your tree than to mix and match different styles. For extra chic points, stand your tree in a wicker basket or a metal basin, surrounded by beautifully wrapped gifts.
Set the scene
It’s the little things that count, so create those magical extra touches throughout your living space with a few simple tricks. Forgot tinsel – we’re feeling pine cones, glass ornaments and candles layered over polished wood slices or trays as a chic centrepiece for your fireplace, coffee table or dining table. To create that ultra-cosy setting, don’t forget to add soft blankets and knitted cushions to your lounge set-up.
